Five places near Dublin to visit this Bank Holiday weekend

The May Bank Holiday is here and there's plenty of great ways to spend it in Dublin.

Many people will be planning days out with family and friends this weekend.

Here's five things near Dublin that will keep you busy over the Bank Holiday.

Howth Head

There's few places that will beat a weekend walk around the Cliff Path Loop on Howth Head.

It's just a half an hour drive from the city centre and there's plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby to grab a bite to eat after your walk.

Hill of Tara

If you're looking to venture outside of the capital, the Hill of Tara is a perfect place to visit.

It is located near the River Boyne, running between Navan and Dunshaughlin in Co Meath and is just a 45 minute drive from Dublin.

It is made up of a number of ancient monuments and, according to tradition, was the seat of Árd Rí na hÉireann - the High King of Ireland.

Tayto Park

If you're looking to do something fun this bank holiday weekend, Tayto Park is the perfect place to go.

The theme park has a variety of different rides and activities as well as a zoo.

It's just a half an hour drive from Dublin.

Stella Cinema

Step back in time by paying a visit to the Stella Cinema in Rathmines.

The weather this Bank Holiday weekend isn't forecast to be spectacular so why not enjoy a film in this timeless theatre.

The cinema will be 100 years old next year.

Dublin Zoo

Dublin Zoo is delighted to welcome two Venezuelan red howler monkeys (Dublin Zoo)

You can always count on Dublin Zoo to give you a fun day out.

The zoo recently welcomed two Venezuelan red howler monkeys, the newest species to inhabit the South American House

The two male red howler monkeys, both aged five, travelled from Tierpark Berlin before Easter and are settling into their new habitat very well.
