Five Newcastle United players have been included in a hypothetical Premier League 'Northern' XI to face a 'Southern' XI in an All-Star type of match.
The debate has come about after Chelsea's new American co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly stated in an interview that he'd like to see the Premier League take ideas from over the pond.
“Ultimately I hope the Premier League takes a little bit of a lesson from American sports and really starts to figure out, why don’t we do a tournament with the bottom four sports teams, why isn’t there an All-Star game?

“People are talking about more money for the pyramid, in the MLB All-Star game this year we made 200m dollars from a Monday and a Tuesday.
“So we’re thinking we could do a North versus South All-Star game for the Premier League, for whatever the pyramid needed quite easily.”
Boehly's comments have received both praise and outrage amongst fans, pundits, managers and players but if it were to happen, some believe Newcastle could find themselves as the basis for the Northern team.
Football website WhoScored.com has made their North vs South XIs based off of their performance rating this season and Newcastle have five players in the North team, as many as Manchester City and Liverpool combined.
Goalkeeper Nick Pope (7.27), defenders Kieran Trippier (7.37), Fabian Schar (7.45), and midfielders Joelinton (7.42) and Allan Saint-Maximin (7.67) were all involved in the hypothetical team which lined up in a 4-4-2 formation.
The six other members were Pascal Struijk from Leeds (7.11), Joao Cancelo (7.32), Kevin de Bruyne (7.75) and Erling Haaland from Manchester City (8.20) and Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino (7.53) from Liverpool.
