Curry Me Away
Curry Me Away began over 30 years ago, when creator Tony found himself disgruntled after his favourite takeaway had a change of management and his much-loved chicken tikka masala never tasted the same again.
Tony decided that if he wanted decent tikka masala, he would have to start making it himself - and the rest is history, as he went on to expand his skills into a full range of delicious curries to share with the local community.
He now prepares curries six days a week to serve up exclusively at his Tynemouth Market food stall - from the tikka masala that started it all, dubbed “the best in the North East” by curry fans on their Facebook page, to signature curry wraps and curry-loaded fries.
Cheese Sir
Cheese Sir claims to serve up “the best melted cheese in the North East”, specialising in raclette - a gooey melted cheese dish from Switzerland.
Cheese lovers can get their hands on raclette in burgers, breakfast muffins, and their brand new mac ‘n’ cheese dish.
They also make tartiflette, a dish from the French Alps made with potatoes, onions, lardons, garlic, and of course their signature raclette cheese.
Great North Coffee Company
As their name suggests, this stall initially specialised in coffee when they first launched in 2019 - but during lockdown, they decided to expand into pizza-making.
After making a start selling pizzas from owner Jonathan’s driveway, Great North Coffee brought their pizzas - handmade using a unique recipe - to Tynemouth Market last summer.
But coffee lovers don’t need to worry - they still serve their signature blend at the market, along with popular hot chocolate varieties including Oreo, Lotus Biscoff and Cadbury Crunchie.
Acropolis
Since setting up in 2016, Acropolis has become something of a North East staple that can be found at the likes of the Grainger Market, Stack Newcastle and Stack Seaburn, as well as pitching regular stalls at several of the region’s markets.
Started by brothers Filip and Viktor with their friend Yusuf, Acropolis specialises in authentic Greek street food and has won several awards over the years for the delicious dishes on offer.
Menu highlights include their chicken gyros wrap - chicken marinated in the Greek gyros style with signature Acropolis sauce and fries in pita bread - and various halloumi dishes.
Cinnabomb
If you’re after a sweet treat to chase your lunch, stop by Cinnabomb - another Tynemouth Market exclusive, this stall specialises in indulgent cinnamon buns.
Owner Debbie gets up at three o’clock in the morning on market days to get everything freshly baked and ready for the popular stall.
Their mouth-watering flavours include banoffee pie, Lotus Biscoff, Terry’s Chocolate Orange, and Nutella.
