Five men were arrested in relation to a serious assault that resulted in the death of a man in Co Kildare.
Gardai were alerted to the scene after Limerick man Dylan McCarthy was found unresponsive outside a pub on Dublin Street, Monasterevin on Sunday, August 21. The 29-year-old was taken to hospital where he died the next day.
A second man, aged in his 50s, who was treated for serious injuries has been transferred to Tallaght University Hospital where his condition was described as serious. This morning, five men were arrested by gardai as part of the investigation into the incident.
The men, all aged in their 20s are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at multiple Garda Stations in Co Kildare, a garda spokesman confirmed. He added: "Investigations are ongoing."
