Virginia State Police have identified the victims of a fatal plane crash that occurred earlier this month near Hot Springs, Virginia. The incident involved a twin-engine IAI Astra 1125 that departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on March 10 with the intention of landing at Ingalls Field Airport.
Unfortunately, the aircraft crashed upon approach, resulting in the loss of all five individuals on board, including a child. The victims have been identified as pilot Claudio Jose Alberto Colmenares Perez, first officer Gagan Gupasandra Srinivas Reddy, and passengers Alfredo Diez, Kseniia Shanina, and their son, Nicholas Diez.
Reports indicate that the plane caught fire upon impact, with witnesses observing plumes of white smoke rising from the crash site. The passengers were reportedly en route to attend an event at the nearby Homestead Resort.
The Federal Aviation Administration's preliminary report revealed that the aircraft was destroyed in the crash and subsequently caught fire under unknown circumstances during its descent. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, with a preliminary report expected to be released within 30 days. A final report detailing the probable cause and contributing factors is anticipated to be completed within one to two years.
