Five from Odisha killed as bus overturns in Andhra Pradesh

RAJAHMUNDRY: At least five passengers were killed and several others sustained injuries after a private bus they were travelling in overturned at Yedugurallapalli under Chinturu mandal in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitharama Raju district in the early hours of Monday.

According to sources, three persons died on the spot and two others succumbed to injuries while being taken to Bhadrachalam area hospital for treatment.

All the deceased were Odisha natives. They were coming from Odisha's Chinnapalli to Vijayawada for work. There were about 60 occupants in the bus when the mishap took place. Seven persons who were injured are getting treatment in Bhadrachalam area hospital.

Sources said that the driver was drunk and overspeeding had caused the accident. The passengers said that there was an argument between the driver and the conductor at midnight as the conductor had told the driver to stop the driving after midnight.

In the month of June, workers from Odisha come to Vijayawada in search of work annually.
