Five people, including four children, were found dead Saturday, Oct. 10, inside an apartment in Richmond, a small northern Utah town near the Idaho border, in what Cache County authorities are investigating as suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. A neighbor was taken to a hospital for possible exposure. Officials have not formally confirmed the source of the gas.
Cache County Sheriff D. Chad Jensen identified the victims by age only: a 43-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, a 12-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, the Idaho State Journal reported. Their names have not been released. The man was found in the garage next to a car that was still running, Jensen told KSL, according to East Idaho News.
