Leeds United will be looking to make it three successive Premier League victories for the first time this season when they face Southampton at Elland Road on Saturday. The Whites recorded back-to-backs wins over Norwich City and Wolves before the international break - a run that lifted them seven points clear of the relegation.
It is safe to say that those two results will give the Whites a boost in confidence, but Southampton will prove to be another stern test given their current league position. Ralph Hasenhuttl's side, who were backed by many to be in a relegation battle come the end of the season, sit comfortably in 11th on 35 points from 29 games.
The two sides have played each-other 95 times in the past, with Leeds coming out on top in 47 of those, while there has been just 20 draws between the teams. So, with that mind, we have taken a look at some of the more memorable clashes in recent history.

In a season where Leeds missed out on the First Division title by a point, the Whites demolished Southampton and played some exceptional football, where their 'all-out-attack' style' came to fruition. Don Revie's side had previously beaten Manchester United 5-1 a couple of weeks back and continued their excellent form by beating Saints 7-0, with the free-scoring Peter Lorimer bagging a hat-trick.
Allan Clarke grabbed a brace, while Jack Charlton and Mick Jones also found the scoresheet in front of 35,000 joyous spectators. It was described as one of Leeds' most convincing wins of the 20th century and Revie's team was really one-of-a-kind.

With Leeds battling for success both domestically and in Europe, they travelled down to the south coast for their final game of 2001 looking to end the year with another win. The Whites began the game well and came close when Ian Harte's free-kick crashed off the crossbar, before Lee Bowyer thought he had put his side ahead, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
However, David O'Leary's Leeds were not to be denied and nothing could stop Bowyer this time from claiming the winning goal, as he hit the back of the net in the 88th minute to secure the points. It was a victory that moved the Whites back into the top-four heading into the new year.
19/11/05 - Southampton 3-4 Leeds United
If ever there was an advert for why the Championship is renowned to be one of the most exciting division's in the world, this match would back that claim up. Southampton found themselves three goals up at half-time and cruising in the game thanks to Marian Pahars' close-range header and Nigel Quashie's brace.
But the introduction of David Healy after the break changed the complexion of the match. Firstly, Paul Butler headed in to give Leeds a life-line. Then Robbie Blake tapped home, before Healy's chip was handled and he slotted home the penalty to level the scores. There was still time for the Whites to grab a winner, as Liam Miller fired home to spark pandemonium in the away end.
30/10/12 - Leeds United 3-0 Southampton
With a place in the League Cup quarter-final at stake, Leeds knew that a win could give them a real chance of going far in the competition. Leeds boss Neil Warnock decided to name a strong side for the game, while Nigel Adkins decided to rotate his pack as they focused on Championship promotion.
A second-string Saints side hardly mustered a chance and should have been behind when Luke Varney missed an open goal. But after he hit the bar, his run and cross helped set up Michael Tonge, who fired in from the edge of the area. El-Hadji Diouf tucked in two minutes from the end after Rodolph Austin's shot was saved and Luciano Becchio hit the third via an injury-time penalty.
23/02/21 - Leeds United 3-0 Southampton
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions issued by the Government, Leeds were forced to play all but one Premier League home matches behind-closed-doors during the 2020/21 campaign. However, it proved to be a largely successful campaign for the Whites, who picked up some impressive results, including this one against Southampton.
After a cagey first-half, Leeds dominated the second period and opened the scoring when Patrick Bamford slotted home for his 13th goal of the season. Next to hit the back of the net was Stuart Dallas, who showed clever technique to smash in, before Raphinha wrapped up the points with a delightful free-kick.
