After teasing us for many months, the Ubisoft Forward has come and gone already. Alas, Beyond Good and Evil 2 wasn’t there yet again. Sad times.
There were plenty of rock-solid gameplay demonstrations for The Division Resurgence and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, plus some teasers regarding Assassin’s Creed‘s future. Goodness, there was lots of Assassin’s Creed.
The showcase was pretty long, at least long enough for most people to dip out on a Saturday, anyway. No worries, though — just take a look at our breakdown of the five biggest below.
Three new mainline Assassin's Creed games
Not one, not two, but three new mainline Assassin’s Creed titles got announcements. There’s Mirage, Red, and Hexe — all of which are being handled by different internal studios at Ubisoft. We have dedicated posts for each in the hyperlinks, so do check those out if you want in-depth details.
Incredibly, yet another Assassin’s Creed game was announced during the show too.
Assassin's Creed goes mobile with Project Jade

Yes, there are four brand-new Assassin’s Creed titles in development. Unlike the other three, codename Jade will be the first-ever installment set in ancient China.
Jade is also the first open-world series entry made for mobile devices. It’ll have all the hay-bale-diving, and sneaky stealth kills that fans love from mainline installments – all grafted onto intuitive touch screen controls.
Jade will let players create their character, and you’ll even be able to parkour atop the Great Wall of China. Sadly, there’s no release date info on this one just yet.
Rayman will be in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Yup, Ubisoft’s platforming icon Rayman is making an appearance in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Ubisoft held off on revealing much about his post-launch DLC, but the teaser trailer should get long-time fans plenty excited.
New Skull and Bones footage shows off tweakable pirate empires
Each time Skull and Bones surfaces, there’s a bit more to be excited about. The latest gameplay demo details how aspiring pirates will decorate and customize their ships. Nearly every element of a boat, from sails to cannons, can be upgraded and tweaked. There are even some unexpected additions like torpedoes!
The trailer above goes into a healthy degree of depth regarding progression in Skull and Bones, so it’s worth checking out.
Netflix is making a Assassin's Creed TV show
Well, a live-action Assassin’s Creed series is coming to Netflix. There are also multiple animated spinoffs coming as well.
“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise,” Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television, said via Ubisoft’s website. “We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix, and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”
All of these shows are pretty early in development, so we probably won’t see any of them for a while.
