Five bars and restaurants in Liverpool well worth a visit if you're doing Sober October

With Sober October fully underway, the quest of where to go for a weekend mocktail may be a puzzling one, especially for those new to the challenge.

Whether you're dipping your toes into the sober style of living for charity or health benefits, Merseyside has some excellent offerings, which are sure to wet the whistle. We've sought out the best non-alcoholic drinks all over the city and found some of the most creative options that show Liverpool's food and drink scene has something for everyone this October.

Going alcohol-free for a month, or longer, doesn't have to mean an end to your social life and enjoying good drinks. If you're going to experiment with laying off the bevvies, why not do it in style?

The Little Taproom

Every year for Sober October, The Little Taproom in Aigburth offers a draught beer without the alcohol. This year, it's offering pints and half-pints of YES, a heavy hopped IPA made with dry hops for bold orange and citrus flavours.

First Chop Brewing named the beverage YES because it's a beer for all occasions, being non-alcoholic, vegan and gluten-free. The Little Taproom is perfect for anyone who wants the taste of a decent pint but none of the negatives.

The Little Taproom is located at 278 Aigburth Road, Liverpool, L17 9PJ and is open every day apart from Mondays.

The Brink

The UK's first 'dry bar' is in Liverpool city centre and offers many innovative mocktails made mostly from fruit juices and syrups. Our favourite is a Spicy Mule containing cinnamon syrup, cranberry juice, lime and ginger beer which gives the drink a real kick. With a large range of options, The Brink has created an alternative for going out in Liverpool beyond 'going out for a drink'.

The Brink's full menu with all the mocktails can be found here, and the venue is based at 15-21 Parr Street, Liverpool, L1 4JN.

Bakchich

The perfect pairing for Bakchich's Moroccan and Lebanese cooking is its fruity and refreshing mocktails - the pick of the bunch being the mojitos, which come in pomegranate, strawberry or regular. They offer an excellent range of Arabic tea and coffee as well as a large choice of fresh juices. Bakchich is one the best places in town this Sober October.

Based on 54 Bold Street, Liverpool, L1 4ER, Bakchich is also available on Deliveroo.

River North

River North in Liverpool offers a bitter Amerett-No Sour with Lyre's Amaretti, egg whites, simple syrup and lemon juice to give it a sour kick, or a sweeter Tropical Sunset, made from a selection of fruit juices. If a gin substitute is more your style, a No-Groni is also available in this fusion pub. The venue offers something for everyone on its extensive menu - especially on the drinks front, including non-alcoholic bottled beer.

River North is located at 37-43 Berry Street, Liverpool, L1 9DF, and bookings can be made on their website.

The Crafty Swine

The Crafty Swine offers non-alcoholic versions of two cocktails, the Mango Nojito and the Lil Miss Basic containing pineapple juice, cranberry juice, passionfruit puree, raspberry gomme, lemon and then topped up with lemonade.

The First Kiss is an original mocktail that contains pomegranate juice, lemon, strawberries, raspberries, apple juice and lemonade. If a cocktail doesn't take your fancy, cherry or blue raspberry iced slushies are also available.

The Crafty Swine can be found at 336-338 Smithdown Road, Liverpool, L15 5AN
