'Fit as a fiddle' dad diagnosed with same illness that killed his wife

A family was dealt another devastating blow after a man was diagnosed with the same illness that killed his wife, despite displaying no symptoms.

Julie Green's mum, Diane, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in 2005 after she'd struggled with migraines for months. Julie, of Runcorn, said she was 'shocked' when she found out about her mum's diagnosis as they 'never expected something like that would happen'.

In July 2021, John Green was diagnosed with two brain tumours, despite not having any symptoms. The 69-year-old was also diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

Suspect named after teenage girl reports rape and sex assault

Wirral Magistrates Court in Birkenhead (Liverpool Echo)

A man from Northern Ireland has been arrested after reports a teenage girl from Wirral was groomed, raped and sexually assaulted.

A girl in Wirral, now 15, reported to her school that she had been subjected to sexual offences by a man since 2019. Officers investigating the offences travelled to Northern Ireland and executed a warrant on Monday, March 28.

David Joseph McMullan, 32 years, of Demesne View, Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland was arrested and later charged with 14 offences. These included rape, sexual assault by penetration, sexual grooming of a girl under 16, and administering a substance with intent to stupefy/overpower to allow sexual activity.
