Fisk is back for season two. Here's how to watch and what to know before it starts

Dust off your brown suit and grab your cheapest coffee – Kitty Flanagan's deadpan legal comedy Fisk is back for season two.

The Logie-award winning show, written and directed by Flanagan, also sees her return in the lead role as probate lawyer Helen Tudor-Fisk.

She stars alongside the brother-sister pairing of Marty Sheargold and Julia Zemiro as Ray and Roz Gruber, the dysfunctional heads of the shabby law firm she finds herself working for.

Let's get you up to speed.

Where can I watch season two of Fisk?

Season two begins at 9pm tonight on ABC TV and ABC iview.

After that, episodes will air weekly on Wednesday nights. They'll all be available on ABC iview too.

And, of course, you use ABC iview to catch up on season one whenever you like.

What's Fisk about anyway?

Helen Tudor-Fisk is a corporate contract lawyer who is forced to take a job at a slightly run-down law firm that specialises in wills and estates, after her personal and professional life come crashing down around her.

She doesn't like dealing with people. She opted for wills and estates hoping she wouldn't have to deal with people, as all the clients would be dead. Unfortunately for her, that's not how it works.

The show is led by her acerbic wit as she navigates the tricky world of probate law, constantly clad in her trademark brown suit which serves to reflect her personality – very functional, slightly strange.

"The wardrobe was never gonna change," Flanagan tells ABC News Breakfast.

"She [Helen Tudor-Fisk] says what a lot of people are thinking but don't actually say out loud. Helen is the voice of people's thoughts. Most people know to keep it inside, she just goes 'I'm just gonna say it'."

She's hired by Ray Gruber [Sheargold] to replace his sister Roz Gruber [Zemiro], who has just been suspended from practising law and has appointed herself office manager in lieu of any legal work.

They're joined by the trusty webmaster/probate clerk, George [Aaron Chen].

What can we expect from season two?

Season two sees Tudor-Fisk moving up in the world of Gruber & Associates.

"She actually gets an office this season. She's not in the storage cupboard anymore. She has furniture, which is nice," Flanagan says.

"She's settled into the job, and she's doing not a bad job of probate law. She's got the hang of it – at the beginning. So, that's where we start. She's pretty essential to the company now."

It's good timing too – because as she settles into the job, Roz takes on a new venture and Ray needs Helen to up her game.

However, Helen's past will come back to bite her this season, forcing the Grubers to make a difficult decision.

Who will we see this time around?

Season one featured a who's who of Australian comedic royalty as guest stars – Denise Scott, Sam Pang and Glenn Robbins to name a few.

You can expect plenty more of that this season.

"We've got a few new people as well. Rob Sitch, that young kid is getting a crack," Flanagan jokes.

"And some great young comedians. Urvi Majumdar, Ting Lim is in there as well – and of course, Aaron Chen."

More than 20 comedians including Anne Edmonds, Geraldine Hickey, and Aunty Donna's Broden Kelly will pop up for guest appearances throughout the season.

However, the dynamics between the starring cast remain at the heart of the show.

"The best days on set were when there were the four of us [Flanagan, Sheargold, Zemiro, Chen] doing scenes together, either around the boardroom table or the kitchen or whatever … they were always the best ones to shoot," Flanagan says.

"Julia [Zemiro] is amazing. She never ever gets anything wrong. We did a blooper reel … she didn't feature in it at all. She just stays in character and just 'Roz'-es. She just keeps on 'Roz'-ing."

"The blooper reel was mostly just me and Marty [Sheargold], I discovered. I thought I'd been quite professional!"

Will season two be the last season of Fisk?

Hold your horses! It's a bit too early to say.

"Ha! I think we had better wait and see how series two goes," Flanagan says.

She's hoping it'll be a hit for fans and detractors alike.

"[As part of the promo for season two] we did vox pops asking if people had heard of Fisk. This woman said 'oh, yes, yes. I didn't like it.' Then my sister said, during the vox pop, 'well, there's another season coming'."

"She went 'oh, alright. I'll have another look at it.' Maybe she's hoping we've improved from the first season!"
