In the world of entertainment, there is a new movie generating quite the buzz. 'American Fiction,' written and directed by Emmy Award-winning writer Cord Jefferson, is making waves and earning Oscar buzz with its all-star cast, including Jeffrey Wright, Issa Rae, Tracy Ellis Ross, and others. In a recent interview, Jefferson shared the inspiration behind the film and how he managed to assemble such a talented ensemble.
When asked about the casting process, Jefferson attributes the success to writing real, authentic roles for black actors. He acknowledges the underrepresentation and undervaluing of black actors in the industry and set out to create a film where every cast member had meaningful and substantial characters. Thankfully, his approach resonated with many actors, and they eagerly joined the project.
