First ship to sail into city's cruise terminal makes welcome return

The first cruise liner which sailed into Liverpool's Pier Head terminal back in 2007 made a welcome return to the city for a brief stay.

The Seven Seas Voyager, owned by Regent, sailed into the Pier Head terminal this afternoon (Friday) and leaves tonight. It has just started on a 12-day, one-way trip from Belfast to Southampton, and will be visiting Ireland and Scotland during the journey.

The Seven Seas has a crew of 447 on board and boasts nine passenger decks and 349 suites, all with private balconies. The ship has four restaurants, a health club and spa, outdoor and indoor pools, a jogging track, golf nets and a casino.

The 700-passenger Seven Seas Voyager was the first ship to dock at the Liverpool's new cruise liner terminal when it first opened in September 2007, and has since been refurbished. The QE2 was deployed for the official opening ceremony a few weeks after the visit by the Voyager.

Cruise ship spotters are spoilt for choice over the next few days with another liner operated by Regent due to arrive on Sunday. The Seven Seas Navigator is currently on a 14-day voyage from Reykjavik to Southampton.
