Imelda Staunton hopes that, like her character, she has done her duty for the audience when she is unveiled as Queen Elizabeth II in the new fifth series of The Crown.
Netflix released the first official photos today and all eyes will soon be on actor Imelda, 66, who follows in the footsteps of Olivia Colman and Claire Foy in the main role of the late Queen.
She said: “What has been nice, and I hope I don’t prove them wrong, is people saying, ‘I’m really looking forward to seeing her as the queen. So, let’s just hope that works out for them because I’ve done it. Nothing I can do about it now!”
