First pictures as Darwin Nunez trains with Liverpool ahead of Manchester United clash on Thailand tour

Liverpool began their pre-season tour of Thailand with a training session in Bangkok on Sunday.

After a gruelling season in which Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the final of every available club competition, the squad jetted out to Thailand with new signings Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho part of the traveling party.

Klopp named a 37-man squad for the tour ahead of games against Manchester United and Crystal Palace next week, with the players given an extended time off due to international involvement last month linking up with the rest of the squad.

Nunez, of course, is the headline arrival at Anfield this summer. Signed in an £85m deal from Benfica, the 23-year-old scored 34 goals in 41 appearances last season and will help replace Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich.

The highly-rated Carvalho, meanwhile, joins from Fulham for an initial £5m – six months after a deal was agreed to bring him to Merseyside.

Speaking at a press conference held after landing in Thailand, Klopp said: “To play a good season you need first and foremost consistency, that’s what it’s all about and that’s what we will try. I have no doubt about the quality of the boys.

"We brought in new players - yes, we lost a few players - but we brought in new players; if you want, fresh blood, really helpful. There are no places already sorted, who will play where.

"The boys will make pressure, which is important. We have five subs from now on in the Premier League as well - we have to get used to that, we have to adapt to that. I’m really looking forward to it.

"There are no guarantees in football but there’s a good chance that we (will) play another good season, I would say."
