Police have released a picture of a much-loved grandad who died after being hit by a car in Paisley.
Jim Paterson, 63, was walking along Brediland Road, in the Foxbar area, when he was struck by the vehicle at around 12.20am on Sunday. Ambulance crews raced to the scene but Jim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers have released a picture of Jim as they continue to appeal for information. His heartbroken grandchildren were amongst the first to lay floral tributes in the street as they paid tribute to a 'loving dad and grandad'.
In a note to their beloved grandad, the children said: “To grandpa, you made us smile and laugh every day. We are forever grateful to have you in our lives. We will always love you.”
The touching note included the names of his four grandchildren and “bump” in recognition of the grandchild he will no longer have the chance to meet.
The tribute is one of many that have been left for Jim, a former Govan shipwright.
A second note read: "To my beloved dad Jim. I will miss you forever and a day. Love you always, your son."
Officers have concluded their search of the area and they reopened the road at around 5.30pm on Monday, however they are continuing to ask anyone with information to come forward.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of Jim. Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to police.
“I would also ask if there are any motorists who have possible dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with officers.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0074 of Sunday, November 27.
