A First Nations man is in a critical condition after he was shot by police in Logan, south of Brisbane, on Wednesday afternoon.
The man, 40, was shot by officers on Croydon Road, close to the town centre of Logan Central, about 1pm. The Queensland Police Service said in a statement that officers had been called to a disturbance.
Police also claimed the man had threatened them before a firearm was discharged. Details released by the QPS have not been confirmed by independent sources or any investigation.
Sources say the man, 40, is Aboriginal. He is one of several Aboriginal men to be shot by police in Queensland in recent months, including Mareeba man Aubrey Donahue and another man in the Brisbane suburb of Grange.
The injured man was treated at the scene by Ambulance officers for life-threatening injuries before being transported to the Princess Alexandra hospital.
Police said the internal affairs unit – the Ethical Standards Command – will investigate the incident.
