First look inside Elliott Whitehead's Canberra home

Raiders fans now have the chance for an inside look at skipper Elliott Whitehead's property, following it being listed for sale.

The 35-year-old revealed earlier this year he would move back to Europe for a one-year deal with the Catalans Dragons.

Selling his Nicholls home felt like the "right thing to do" as a result, he said.

The house at 85 Tazewell Circuit has been a family sanctuary, where Mr Whitehead has watched his two-year-old daughter grow.

"It is going to be sad to let it go but this is our next step," he said.

The home is an "unusual" layout that is a drawcard for families, selling agent Jonny Warren, of Jonny Warren Property, said.

Double doors open onto a long hallway with all bedrooms on one side of the house. A large, open-plan living area sits on the other.

This layout had been ideal for having children sleep in the house while still entertaining guests, Mr Whitehead said.

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home has large rooms that can be configured into different settings.

Wood floors and wood-panelled ceilings characterise the house, giving it an interesting interior.

A formal living area has an inviting atmosphere where children and adults alike can enjoy the company of others.

Large hedges surround the outside of the house, giving the kind of privacy Mr Whitehead described as "important with children."

"It was really nice to have that private family time," he said. "People couldn't see in."

The sale is also a chance for a young family to get into Canberra's most tightly-held suburb.

"It sets it apart from everything else around Nicholls. It's not your traditional high-end home but it has a very good floor plan," Mr Warren said.

The main demographic at open homes had been 30-40-year-olds looking for a space to raise young children, he said.

For Mr Whitehead, this was exactly who he hoped would be drawn to the house.

"The neighbourhood is lovely. I get along with all the neighbours, they're all very nice," Mr Whitehead said. "It is a nice, quiet area."

The house will go to auction on November 16. A reserve price is yet to be made available.
