First look inside Edinburgh's incredible new Itsu restaurant at St James Quarter

Itsu is set to open its first ever Scottish restaurant this week, with the Asian-inspired restaurant setting up shop at the St James Quarter.

Occupying one of the front units at the Leith Street entrance, the popular brand are the latest to open up in Edinburgh's new retail hub.

A huge hit down south, Edinburgh Live headed down to take an exclusive first look at the new restaurant, which will open briefly on Thursday (March 24) for a huge giveaway.

Operating around the idea of fresh, healthy and tasty fast food, the stunning new venue has both a counter and self service stations to order from when you arrive.

With screens showcasing the latest offers and menu, many items are ready to go instantly, with others taking a few minutes to prepare.

Decorated with a pink and white theme to reflect their brand, the seating areas also reflect a Japanese look, with the lamps, mirrors and bar stools.

As well as the occasional floral display of pink orchids, there is also a station on each table with everything you will need to enjoy your dishes, from soy sauce to chopsticks.

Giving the option to eat-in or takeaway, some of the benches also look out onto the entrance of the St James Quarter and across to the start of Princes Street, giving the ideal location for people-watching.

Opening from 12pm-1pm on Thursday, staff will be giving away free sushi and hotpots for their newest customers, with the official grand opening on Friday at noon.

Itsu, the popular global brand, already occupy various branches across the world, as well as selling groceries that you can find in your local supermarket shelves.

Itsu will be offering healthy, hot and cold Asian inspired dishes for both grab & go and eat in customers. The restaurant chain celebrates their ‘steamed never fried’ approach to delicious food, which includes a third of its menu being plant based.
