These images show how the area around Salford University's Peel Park campus could be transformed under new proposals to build 950 homes. Swathes of shops, industrial units and education space could also be built on a site around the size of 15 football pitches to the north and south of Frederick Road, which has been earmarked for the huge new development.
Dubbed 'Crescent Innovation North', the project is the brainchild of the University of Salford, Salford City Council, and The English Cities Fund. The consortium say the 'high quality' district will 'drive education, research and industry collaboration', while 'education facilities, commercial space, homes, leisure and retail... will transform the local area'.

The homes would be a mix of private and affordable ownership, while existing buildings on the edge of the site would also be redeveloped. Developers say more than 3,400 full-time jobs could be created if the proposals get the go-ahead.
A multi-storey 'movement hub' could also be built on Frederick Road providing car parking spaces, electric vehicle charging points, cycle parking and hire, e-scooters and a car club. Designs produced by Make Architects show buildings ranging between two and 11 storeys in height.
It's part of a wider £2.5bn masterplan for Salford Crescent, which includes proposals to build more than 2,650 homes, a hotel, plus 2.4m sq ft of research and industry space. The unveiling of the latest proposals follows the approval of the 'Salford Rise' plans earlier this year.
It will see a new 'green' pedestrian and cycle bridge built across Frederick Road and Wynne Street. An outline planning application for the 'Crescent Innovation North' proposals will be submitted in early 2023.
Two drop-in public consultations will be held on Wednesday, November from 2pm-6.30pm and Tuesday, November 22 from 11am – 4pm at Salford Innovation Forum, 51 Frederick Road. Views can also be submitted here until December 2.
