First look at Edinburgh’s newest ‘off the beaten track’ cocktail bar

Edinburgh Live has had a first look inside the Capital’s newest ‘off the beaten track’ cocktail bar in the city centre.

The new and improved cocktail bar shares its name with a burger restaurant next door, and it is marketing itself as a swanky new watering hole with specialist house cocktails, local beers, a diverse selection of wines, and “a dope soundtrack to party to.”

August 37 has been serving cocktails and drinks since before the pandemic, but as the world has opened up, the owners decided it was time for a refurbishment this autumn.

“We’ve been taking a week break/detox from social media, but we’re back and we’ve been busy,” August 37 announced.

“Our little bar is undergoing a refurb and will be opening on Saturday 12 November… Just in time for the festive season.”

The bar closed for approximately six weeks, and has been busy preparing for customers again.

“I think it looks quite different from before,” owner Robbie said.

“We’ve made some tweaks and changes in keeping with the burger restaurant next door, but the bar still has its own unique vibe. We wanted to make it into a cool spot where people want to go.”

August 37 will be offering a range of seven signature cocktails plus a bartender’s choice option alongside local lagers, beers and wine.

“We’ve always been located right in the city centre, but we’re off the beaten track,” Robbie said.

“August 37 is a really hidden gem, and we hope people will come find it.”
