Every Christmas residents and tourists flock in their droves to the ice rink in Edinburgh’s city centre.
And this year is no different with the ‘Lidl on Ice’ event opening its doors to the public at 10:00am on Saturday November 26.
Edinburgh Live headed up in the early afternoon to George Street, between Charlotte Square and Castle Street, to get a first look at the spectacular event.

By 1:30pm the ice was already filled with families, friends and couples skating to their heart's content and enjoying themselves on a brisk November afternoon.
The Lidl sponsored activity will be open every day, except Christmas day, until January 3 - with skating slots available to customers from 10:00am-10:00pm.
However the ice rink will close on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day at 7:00pm to allow workers to enjoy the festive period with their families.
Those hoping for a safer time to hit the ice with their little tots can take advantage of special toddler times for kids aged five and under.
The times specified for this are: December 5 and 6 at 1:00pm; December 12 and 13 at 12:00pm and December 17, 18 and 24 at 10:00am.
For families looking for quieter and a more relaxed setting for people who are neurodivergent or have sensory processing difficulties, there will also be special sessions put on to accommodate their needs.
Fewer skaters will be allowed onto the ice and lighting, sound and any flashing lights will be controlled to ensure an enjoyable event.
Sessions will take place on: December 7 at 1:00pm; December 14 12:00pm; December 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 10:00am.
Residents who can prove they belong to an EH postcode will be able to secure a 20 per cent discount on £13 standard ticket costs.
Children tickets cost £11 and a penguin stabiliser is also available for an additional £5 - skate hire is included in the price for a ticket.
Concession tickets for students, registered unemployed, customers with disabilities, senior citizens in receipt of a state pension, NHS workers and children under the age of 16 are also available for £12.
