With Sir Elton John’s Stadium of Light concert on Sunday, June 19 fast approaching, pictures of his opening night gig in Norwich show the superstar looking relaxed and healthy. On the first night of the UK leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, the audience was left in no doubt that he was back to his best, months after he postponed the tour following a fall, as he blasted out a selection of hit songs from across his glittering career.
The 75-year-old global megastar took to the stage at Carrow Road in Norwich on Wednesday donning a black tuxedo with pearl trimming, a white ruffle shirt and yellow sparkly glasses for the first of his three extravagant outfits of the night. He treated the packed crowd of adoring fans to 23 songs from his collection including hit tracks Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, Your Song and hit recent number one single Cold Heart, which is in collaboration with pop star Dua Lipa.
Following his opening numbers of Bennie and the Jets and Philadelphia Freedom, he said: “Believe or not this tour has been going for a long time and this is the first English date we’ve done, due to you know what. So it’s lovely to be here in Norwich and playing to you guys.”
