'First Casemiro now this' - Manchester United fans fume at referee Anthony Taylor vs Southampton

Manchester United fans have vented their frustrations following some of the decisions Anthony Taylor made during the first half of their clash with Southampton.

The two teams headed into the interval on level terms, however, that was less than half of the story in a frantic first 45 minutes at Old Trafford. Just after the half-hour mark, Taylor made his first decision which angered the United supporters.

After a challenge by Casemiro was initially given as a free-kick, VAR instructed the referee to review the challenge and Taylor deemed that the Brazilian midfielder had gone in too high and sent him off. If United supporters felt that they were not having the rub of the green at that stage, they were about to feel even more aggrieved.

Five minutes before the interval, Bruno Fernandes appeared to be brought down in the area but Taylor deemed the challenge to be fair and the referee did not overturn the decision. United also believed that they should have had a penalty when a Marcus Rashford cross looked to be handled in the Saints' box but, once again, the appeals were waved away.

By half-time, United fans had run out of patience and vented their frustrations on Twitter. Here is what some of them had to say.

Due to Casemiro receiving his second red card of the campaign, the 31-year-old is now due to miss four domestic matches should the dismissal not be overturned.
