First acts announced for 21st Belladrum music festival

BELLADRUM Tartan Heart Festival has unveiled the first wave of acts set to join the Highland family festival for its 21st outing next summer, as remaining tickets went on sale yesterday.

The festival will run from July 27-29 and it will be closed on the Saturday night by Scots indie rockers Travis. Other highlights will include Sigrid – the Norwegian singer and winner of the BBC Sound of 2018 – plus Peat & Diesel, Skerryvore and Tik-Tok sensation and Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder.

Travis recently wrapped up a world tour in the US, performing their four-times platinum, third album, The Invisible Band.

Sigrid will headline the festival’s Thursday night. Hailed as one of the most exciting new pop acts of recent years, she has delivered stand-out performances at festivals up and down the country from Glastonbury to TRNSMT and will bring her electrifying show to Belladrum for the first time.

Event producer Dougie Brown said: “We are delighted to announced the first acts set to join us next summer. Travis provided one of the standout Belladrum headline performance way back in 2012 and we can’t wait to bring them back to the Highlands in 2023.

“Sigrid is an incredible live act and we are very excited to bring her to Bella for her first UK festival headline performance.

“Across the bill there is a mixture of firm Bella favourites alongside some exciting news acts and there is still so much more to come in the following months.”

“Other acts featuring in our first announcement include actor and country musician Kiefer Sutherland; multi-award winning neo-trad quintet Elephant Sessions; contemporary Irish folk group The Mary Wallopers; Scottish indie new wave band The Bluebells; Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, the funk soul powerhouse from Glasgow; and, bringing their high-energy punk rock covers, Punk Rock Factory.

“Also set to join us over the weekend are Highland favourites Torridon; Ghanaian xylophone master Isaac Birituro and his band The Rail Abandon; Scottish folk star Rachel Sermanni; the ska juggernaut Bombskare; rising singer-songwriter Nati Dreddd; Glasgow four-piece Dead Pony; singer-songwriter Rory Butler; roots reggae act Riddemption;and making their Bella debut, Howlin’ Ric & The Rocketeers.

“Also included in the initial announcement are folk act Calum MacPhail Band; Inverness’s Into The Pines; Highland singer-songwriter Dylan James Tierney; and two acts set to open the Grassroots stage on Friday and Saturday respectively Feis Rois Ceilidh Trail and Fiddle Forte.”

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire.

More acts, including the festival’s third headliner, will be released in the coming weeks. Tickets are available from www.tartanheartfestival.gigantic.com/belladrum-tickets
