Firefighters in Paisley raced to a Paisley beauty spot to tackle a blaze on Saturday night.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent three appliances to tackle a well-developed blaze at Gleniffer Braes.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 5.40pm following reports from the public.
Photos on social media show the flames on the hill taken from fields near to Dykebar hospital in the town.
The dramatic scenes caused concern among members of the public, with many taking to social media after spotting the plumes of smoke.
One person posted: “That will burn for ages all the peat underground hope they get it out before it spreads.
“It can burn underground for a very long time.”
Another added: “Fingers crossed the cattle and sheep are safe.”
It is not known how the fire started, however calls have been made for the public to act responsibly when walking in the beauty spot.

Paisley Southwest councillor Stephen Burns said: “Seeing any damage to Gleniffer Braes is disappointing and I would not like to think that this has been done deliberately.
“Setting fires can be dangerous, and even disposing of ciggarettes in the grass areas can be a serious fire hazard.
“I would urge people enjoying the Gleniffer Braes to please take care and look after an area which is enjoyed by so many in the community.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.41pm on Saturday, 5 March to reports of a large grass fire at Gleniffer Braes Country Park, Paisley.
“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.
“There were no reported casualties.”
It’s understood Police Scotland were not informed of the fire.
