Firefighter dad speechless when kids turn up at station with gift he's always wanted

A fireman was taken by complete surprise when his family turned up at work to surprise him with a very special gift.

Dad Joshua Delehant has worked as a firefighter for 20 years and always dreamed of having a Dalmatian dog by his side.

His one wish came true when his sons, Cooper, 10, and Aiden, five, brought him a tiny black and white puppy.

Wife Desiree, 36, captured the sweet moment on camera and shared it on TikTok, where it has been viewed over 15.7 million times.

She said: "My husband is a firefighter and was also in the Army. He has wanted a Dalmatian for more than 10 years.

"The video was the day we got Ember when she was eight weeks old."

In the footage, which was captioned "Fireman gets his fire puppy", Desiree drives by the fire station to surprise her husband.

As the family greet Joshua, he glances at the backseat and son Aiden urges him to look at what he's holding.

Their dad spots the young Dalmatian puppy on Aiden's lap and pauses for a moment in shock.

Then he says: "You did not spend money on that", before repeatedly shaking his head and saying "no".

Desiree explains that it's a joint gift for his birthday and Father's Day, and encourages him to hold her.

Joshua scoops the Dalmatian into his arms while utterly speechless - and the rest becomes history.

Desiree said: "She has now been to airplane fire safety training with Joshua and he hopes to take her with him to school programmes when she is old enough."

Eldest son Cooper named the puppy Ember, and she has settled in well with the family's two other Labradors.

Desiree says they are all "absolutely in love" with her and will celebrate her three-month birthday in May.

Since the first video, the mum-of-two has shared updates on her TikTok account, including Ember's first walk in the park and learning to 'sit'.

Ember has visited the fire station to properly meet the team and documented the beginning of her process to becoming a fire dog.

Joshua's endearing reaction to his surprise gift charmed many viewers, who shared their reactions in the comments section.

"Not me thinking 'that better be a Dalmatian' the whole time," one person said.

Another agreed: "The perfect duo! A Dalmatian and fire fighter" while a third said: "The joy in his face is everything!!!!"

Ember isn't the only dog melting hearts this week - golden retriever duo Winston and Doug brought followers to tears too.

The pair couldn't have been more excited to greet their owners' new-born baby daughter, Miller, and present her with a very sweet 'welcome home' gift.

While Winston showered Miller with affectionate kisses, Doug went off and returned with his favourite soft toy as a present.

Mum Brennan Visser, 30, almost cried, and when she shared the special gesture on her social media, followers said the same.
