Fire weather conditions for the Mountain Fire are expected to worsen rapidly after sunrise in Ventura County. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph, are forecasted for the area this morning. The highest terrain is likely to experience the strongest winds, but gusty conditions could spread the fire rapidly at any elevation.
In the afternoon, the winds are expected to ease slightly, but sustained speeds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph are still possible. While today's winds are not anticipated to be as intense as Wednesday's, they still present a significant risk as wind-driven flames can swiftly engulf the dry vegetation in the area.
By Thursday night, wind speeds are projected to decrease significantly, with sustained winds dropping to less than 10 mph and minimal gusts. This decrease in wind intensity will hopefully provide some relief and aid firefighting efforts in containing the Mountain Fire.
