The cause of a fire that was attended by several crews has been deemed as accidental. On Tuesday, June 6, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue received reports of a fire on Greaves Lane, near Southwell at around 5pm.
Eight fire engines attended the scene, which included Worksop's water bowser, Mansfield's command support vehicle, and Stockhill's Environmental Protection Unit. The service has concluded that the fire was caused by a bonfire which was left unattended and later grew out of control.
A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service stated: "Fire engines monitored the scene overnight, and left early this morning. The cause of the fire was a bonfire left unattended, that grew out of control."

During the incident residents in the area were told to keep their windows closed. A 65 year old man who lives in the area stated: "I was in but all I saw was a fire engine go past and I looked online and saw where it was.
"If it's the one I'm thinking of then it was a very old barn. I assumed it would have been a hay barn but it doesn't look like it."
He explained he wasn't surprised there was a fire as it's a farming area, so "we do get the odd one."
