Fire officials say blaze at Natural Bridge State Resort Park now ‘100 percent contained

Monday afternoon, a state Forestry Division official said the fire at Natural Bridge State Resort Park is 100 percent contained. Kessley Baker is a wildfire mitigation specialist with the Forestry Division. She said the last U.S. Forest Service and Daniel Boone National Forest firefighters left the scene Sunday night.

“It’s pretty much out, thanks to the rain. However, there is going to be extensive amount of what we call mop up where we have to go through and make sure that any hotspots are controlled.”

Baker said the containment lines still include 137 acres and state Forestry Division crews remain to make sure that area doesn’t spark up again.

“Taking care of any snags as far as like branches that may have burned that could fall. So it's basically just cleaning up.”

Baker said that process will likely take a few days and she doesn’t know when the trails and skylift will reopen.
