Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026, per today's Nintendo Direct live stream.
The next installment in Intelligent Systems' long-running strategy RPG series joins an extraordinarily busy September, with dozens of games big and small all piling into the month ahead of the no man's land developing around GTA 6.
The new trailer features the four main characters participating in Fortune's Weave's central Heroic Games: Cai, a young boy; Dietrich, an older swordsman; Theodora, a warrior queen; and Leda, a battle-ready bard. The end of the trailer is a closer look at the adult form of Sothis, a returning character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
We also see a bit more of the social and combat activities available inside the walls of the main city, as well as the turn-based battles raging outside, grounded in the deadline system that challenges you to spend your time wisely. Throughout the video, we see an objective to "Fight in the first main match" in the city of Dagsion, with a deadline of September 1 and 200 turns remaining.
Combat will look familiar to veterans of the series: move your units around and plan their attacks based on damage, critical, and accuracy ratings, as well as weapon and type matchups. Which character you choose to play, how you train them, and who else you recruit to your forces will seemingly alter the course of fights considerably. The main characters have their own special attacks for combat, for one. Cai, for example, has (likely in addition to other moves) an enormous magic AoE blast. Leda, as a bard, unsurprisingly seems to have some support skills in addition to her swordplay.
Additionally, a collector's edition for Fortune's Weave, dubbed the Dagdan Collection, was revealed. It comes with art cards of the main characters (and seemingly several others), a steelbook case, a map of the land of Dagda, an art book, and a standard boxed copy of the game itself.
