Fire crews have been tackling a huge blaze at a derelict building in Ayrshire.
Emergency services were called to Pathhead in New Cumnock after the alarm was raised at around 8.40pm on Thursday. Dramatic pictures taken from the scene showed huge flames whipping out of the sandstone building.
Firefighters could be seen battling the blaze as it quickly spread throughout the building. Plumes of black smoke billowed up into the sky as water was doused onto the flames.
Fire crews remained in attendance at the scene this morning and police have launched a probe into establishing the cause. No one was injured as a result of the blaze.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a fire at a derelict building at Pathhead in New Cumnock shortly after 9.05pm on Thursday, 23 March.
“No one has been injured and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were called at around 8.42pm on Thursday to the report of a fire at the back of a derelict sandstone building.
"We sent four appliances to the scene. One appliance currently remains in attendance."
