Fire breaks out in Dundee city centre as police seal off area

A fire has broken out in Dundee city centre. Emergency services raced to the City Square after the alarm was raised on Sunday night.

Police sealed off the area as fire crews battled the blaze. Pictures posted on social media showed officers and firefighters at the scene. It is understood the blaze took place in a local coffee shop.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police and Fire Service are currently in attendance at City Square, Dundee in relation to a fire.

"No roads are closed, however City Square is closed to the public at this time.

"There is no apparent risk to the public but please do not attend in the area."

The force later added: "Police Scotland along with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a report of a fire at City Square in Dundee at around 8pm on Sunday, 25 September, 2022. Enquiries have been carried out and the fire is not being treated as suspicious."
