Fire at Linwood recycling centre as clouds of black smoke spotted in sky

Fire crews are battling a blaze at a recycling centre in Linwood.

The fire is believed to have has taken hold at the Enva Scotland recycling centre on Burnbrae Road within Linwood Industrial Estate.

Footage taken by a local living in the area and shared with Glasgow Live shows thick clouds of black smoke billowing into the sky above.

The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service confirmed to Glasgow Live that six fire appliances have been mobilised to deal the blaze.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.19am on Thursday 16 June to reports of a fire affecting rubbish at a Recycling Centre in Linwood Industrial Estate, Burnbrae Road, Linwood.

"Operations control immediately mobilised six fire appliances and a height appliance to the location and firefighters are extinguishing the fire. Crews will leave the scene once the area is made safe.”
