A national memorial service will acknowledge those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep their communities safe.
The service in Canberra on Friday will commemorate fire and emergency service personnel who have died in the line of duty.
Family members and agency representatives will come together at the national memorial site on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin to pay their respects.
A memorial medallion will be presented to each family of the 13 fire and emergency service personnel from NSW, ACT, SA, Queensland, Tasmania and the NT commemorated during this year's event.
"The national memorial service provides a way for the fire and emergency service community to offer its collective support to families, friends and colleagues, and the presentation of an AFAC medallion honours this incredible sacrifice," Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authority Council chief executive Rob Webb said.
An additional 24 names have been engraved on to the Memorial Wall since the previous memorial day.
The Memorial Wall is a reminder of the 602 fire and emergency personnel who lost their lives in Australia and New Zealand.
Governor-General David Hurley and Emergency Management Minister Bridget McKenzie will attend the service.
