Finland's Eurovision act The Rasmus has links with Bon Jovi and Aerosmith

The Rasmus are one of Finland's biggest bands and they're back as Finland's Eurovision 2022 act. If you recognise the name of the band, but can't quite remember why - The Rasmus became famous worldwide with its hit In The Shadows, which came out in 2003.

With frontman Lauri Ylönen, they have several platinum albums and international tours under their belts. Lauri’s nickname is “Lintu” which is the Finnish equivalent for bird which explains the crow feathers he wears in his hair.

First formed in 1994, they now have a new guitarist, Emppu, who previously played with Finnish girl band TikTak, who now plays alongside bassist Eero and guitarist Aki.

For this year's Eurovision, the band will be performing Jezebel, a song which was written by Lauri and Desmond Child - who wrote songs for rock legends Kiss, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith.

Lauri previously told NME: “It is about a girl who takes what she wants, without asking. A free spirit. Jezebel is an homage, a tribute, to the strong women of today, who own their bodies, who are in charge of their sensuality, their sexuality, and who are determined to be an equal.”

The Rasmus performed Jezebel live on Thursday during the Eurovision second semi-final, qualifying for the competition alongside Belgium, the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Poland, Estonia, Australia, Sweden, Romania and Serbia. Ireland were sadly eliminated from the content.

The grand final - the main show which is popular with millions of people across the world - will be live from Turin, Italy, on Saturday night. It will kick off at 8pm and will be aired on BBC One for UK viewers.
