Finland orders pause on Google AI data centres over environmental concerns

Finland has ordered work on two of Google's data centre sites in the country to be halted until mandatory environmental impact assessments are completed.

The US tech giant announced in September a _€_13 billion investment in digital infrastructure in Finland over the next two years to power its artificial intelligence ambitions. It had called it its single biggest investment in Europe.
