'Find some consistency' - National media react to Tottenham's victory over West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, securing a 2-0 victory over London rivals West Ham United.

The Lillywhites had lost two games in a row, falling 4-1 to Leicester City in the Premier League last weekend before they were defeated 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against AC Milan. However, the north Londoners were unable to bounce back when they hosted the Hammers to N17.

Goals from wingback Emerson Royal and substitute Son Heung-Min were enough to secure all three points for Spurs, who are now fourth in the current league standings. With that being said, we've taken a look at how the national media reacted to the crucial win.

The Telegraph

Despite recent struggles, The Telegraph pointed out that Tottenham still have a considerable chance to make this season a very successful one considering the fact that they are still firmly in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup, with a top-four finish also not out of sight.

"And with Spurs also in two cup competitions, this still has the potential to end up being one of the most successful seasons in Tottenham’s recent history if they can just find some consistency", they wrote.

The Express

The Express highlighted just how crucial Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp was in securing all three points for his side. Following Rodrigo Bentacur's injury, the Lillywhites were in dire need of someone stepping up in the centre of the park and that is exactly what Skipp did.

They wrote: "While naturally Skipp fits into a holding position, Skipp was given more licence to roam forward while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg tidied things up in front of the defence."

The Guardian

The Guardian's match report admitted that Spurs were poor in the first half before turning it out in the second period.

"Their starting XI had looked workmanlike, Davies and Emerson hardly dynamic attacking presences on the face of things, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp grafted in the middle", they wrote.

"So it was that, in the 56th minute, they issued a reminder not to judge a book by its cover."
