A fast-thinking woman used Apple's Find My tracking app to help police locate her friend after she was kidnapped by her armed boyfriend.

On Nov. 2, Mario Montano allegedly went to his girlfriend's workplace in El Monte, California, "armed with a firearm and distraught," according to KTLA.

"The suspect engaged in an argument with the victim which escalated when the suspect forced the victim into her own vehicle and drove away, not allowing the victim to exit," KTLA reported.

The victim called her friend, who alerted police to the car's location using Apple's Find My tracking app. The suspect then led California Highway Patrol on a 21-mile pursuit that ended when police deployed spike strips and flattened the car's tires.

The victim was unharmed, and Montano was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and felony evading. It is unclear if police recovered a weapon.
