A young mother is fighting for life after being hit by car while crossing a street with her baby girl in north London.
The 35-year-old was found seriously injured on residential East End Road in Finchley about 11.20am on Friday but her child miraculously escaped unhurt.
Police were called by paramedics to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction with Manor View.
The woman was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The baby was also taken to hospital as a precaution but did not suffer any injuries.”
London’s Air Ambulance also attended the scene close to St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School and New North London Synagogue.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information. The mother’s next of kin have been informed.
The car’s driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
There has been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
