Finchley: 12-year-old and two teenagers arrested for burglary after crashing into police car

Two teenagers and a 12-year-old have been arrested for burglary after they crashed into a police car.

Police officers were on patrol searching for a vehicle linked to a number of burglaries in Finchley when they spotted the car at around 9.10pm on Tuesday evening in Long Lane. 

The officers saw a group of males running from a property that had been broken into.

The suspects then got into the vehicle and tried to get away before it collided with a police car.

Those inside tried to escape on foot but they were caught by police officers.

The Met Police confirmed two 17-year-olds and a 12-year-old were arrested for burglary.

They were taken to a north London police station where they remain in custody.

A police spokesperson told the Standard: “Police were on patrol looking for a vehicle linked a number of burglaries in the Finchley area, when they spotted the car in Long Lane at about 21.10hrs on Tuesday, 20 August. Officers saw a group of males running from a property that had been broken into.

“They got into the suspect vehicle before it made off and collided with a police car. The occupants tried to flee on foot but were detained by officers.

“Two 17 year olds and a 12-year-old were arrested for burglary. They were taken to a north London police station where they remain in custody. Enquiries continue.”
