Final Fantasy 7 Revelation brings the JRPG remake trilogy to a close in 2027, and yes, it's "launching simultaneously on all platforms"

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

The highlight of this year's Summer Game Fest has been unveiled, and it's none other than the long-awaited third – and final – part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.

Square Enix has finally revealed the third part as Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, and it's coming sooner than we thought: spring of 2027. We don't quite have a precise release date just yet, though.

We do know, however, that it's "launching simultaneously on all platforms," and it looks downright stunning. Yes, that means it'll be on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 day one.

Featuring the iconic (surviving – sorry, I had to) cast from Remake and Rebirth, plus Vincent Valentine, the threequel also appears to be as action-packed and visually impressive as its predecessors. We can hear some very well-known voices, too... specifically, Critical Role star Matthew Mercer.

As for the gameplay itself, we'll get to dive down from the airship and land in new areas, exploring everywhere from the Outskirts of Midgard to Wutai – but the story seems vague still so far, which is likely intentional on Square Enix's part.

Everything looks incredible, though, from the costumes to the combat... and is that an actual job system? Why, yes, it is. We'll be able to swap Cloud's (and his companions') classes and 'fits as we please, much to my delight.

2027 can't come quickly enough, but for now, I suppose it leaves us with plenty of time to replay Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Remake... again.

Searching for something else to wishlist? Here are the best new games coming this year and beyond to look forward to.
