The next Final Fantasy 14 expansion is called Evercold, with a release date from Square Enix for the MMO's upcoming chapter set for January 2027.
Final Fantasy 14 director – and legend, if I do say so myself – Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida has unveiled 8.0, the exciting next era of the MMO to follow Dawntrail and its own series of subsequent patches, at Fan Fest 2026 during his hotly anticipated keynote... A keynote that, according to Yoshi-P, is "probably the longest one we've ever done before."
The new story – one that apparently marks the beginning of "The Godless Realms Saga" – looks like it's going to be absolutely massive, taking all our Warriors of Light on a trip through Evercold early next year. I'm not too surprised, honestly, especially after the previous expansion's shenanigans.
