A South Bristol pub has become the latest movie set as film crews continue to work all over the city.
The Steam Crane in Bedminster is being used as the setting for an upcoming short film called The Untimely Revenge of Waffle.
Crews set up early on Wednesday morning, April 5, with signs on the door informing the public that the pub’s vintage look interior was playing host to a film crew.

The film stars Brittany Gallasch and Danny Chase. Gallasch has appeared in ABC’s series Wanted and the 2022 film The Last Daughter. Danny Chase has been a recognisable face in everything from BBC soap Doctors to the Channel 4 series about sentient robots - Humans.
“The film was written by Rebecca Leigh and follows the story of a blind date gone wrong while exploring themes of misunderstanding, forgiveness, and the stresses of getting older,” said a spokesperson for the production company.
“It is an independent production which will be distributed online and submitted to international film festivals later in the year. This will be producer Ashley Porciuncula’s directorial debut, after a successful career in tech where her work has been featured in places such as Netflix, CBBC, and Forbes Magazine,” she added.
The Steam Crane has a long and rich history as a pub in the heart of Bedminster at the end of North Street. It’s had many names, but was called The Star when, in 1827, a touring menagerie of wild animals was set up in the pub’s back yard. The lion, called Nero, was notoriously docile but one day the menagerie owner’s assistant was killed instantly when he was sent into the cage to wake up the lion as there were paying customers frustrated it was asleep.
