Fikayo Tomori ‘wanted to cancel Chelsea performance’ as AC Milan seek revenge for defeat

Fikayo Tomori has spoken of his anger at AC Milan's performance against Chelsea which was expressed through his goal celebration after netting against Juventus this weekend.

The Rossoneri responded to a 3-0 defeat away at Stamford Bridge last week by winning a crucial clash in Serie A, establishing themselves as a major contender to retain their title.

Ahead of another Champions League match at San Siro against Chelsea on Tuesday night, Tomori revealed his rage and desire to put things right after being blamed for his poor defending of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang's goal.

"After the match against Chelsea I was angry and I wanted to give everything on the pitch and when I scored the goal that was my feeling," Tomori said at Milan's training ground.

"I wanted to cancel the performance against Chelsea and I expressed how I felt. Every game I try to give my best. And last week I know I didn't do that and that was really disappointing for me. In football you rarely get another chance to put it right.

"And we have as a team, and I have personally, another chance to put that to bed. And we have a chance to prove that we're better than that, I have a chance to prove that I'm better than that, and we have, not that we needed any extra motivation, but after last week we have that extra motivation to push us to try to go for the win especially in front of our own fans as well.

"We don't need motivation but we will push even harder. It wasn't the real Milan and it wasn't me. We have to learn from last week and it's important for the team's growth."

Asked if performing well against Chelsea has extra bearing on his World Cup selection hopes with England, Tomori said: "Of course that's what we have to do, to work hard, do our best and of course I would be delighted to play at the World Cup. But it will be Gareth Southgate's decision."
