Fika Festival returns with two Liverpool FC stars set to appear

Fika Festival returns to Mosspits Lane Primary School after popular demand, doubling its capacity and market stalls with guest appearances from Liverpool FC stars.

The festival was curated on the back of the national lockdown in order to bring local communities closer together. Launching in 2021, Fika Festival was only allowed a maximum capacity of 1,000 attendees due to coronavirus restrictions which included business owners and sellers.

Anthony Grice, Fika Festival's founder and the owner of Fika Swedish Coffee Culture, decided to revive the event after local businesses and communities urged him to do so. The atmosphere, connectivity and overall experience was sorely missed which spurred Anthony on to make the next festival bigger than ever.

He told the Echo: "The concept behind the festival was to bring people together. We're as connected as we've ever been online but not in reality. Fika is about bringing people together and having a good time.

"The first festival was a massive success and it was an idea to come out of lockdown. I thought, 'Lets have a great big party,' and we did and people want to have it again. Around 2,000 people can come along this time and it's going to be the best we've had and hopefully, we can keep it as an annual event."

Around 50 independent businesses will set up shop, offering everything from Caribbean food, smash burgers and tapas to local honey, vintage clothing and arts and crafts. Drink stands from Northern Social and Mo’bay Shack will also be there for refreshments alongside Queen's Nook of Crosby.

Kids entertainment will run throughout today inlcuding bouncy castles, local artist performances and dance routines. A surprise appearance from two Liverpool Football Club stars is also planned with their identities under tight wraps until a later date. They've been teased to join in on the activities throughout the day.

The entire day will be hosted by inDemand radio and sponsored by Vista Print. Fika Festival lands at Mosspits Lane Primary School on Sunday, July 23, between 11am - 5pm. You can find tickets here.
