Fife healthcare screening firm acquires safety training business

A Scottish healthcare screening and diagnostics firm has acquired the UK occupational health division of a global safety training company for a six-figure sum.

Agilis Health, which is headquartered in Fife, has taken over the corporate health services at RelyOn Nutec’s training centres in Aberdeen and Teesside.

Five employees, which includes nurses and physicians, will transfer across to Agilis as part of the agreement.

Agilis, which was launched in 2020, initially focussing on Covid PCR tests, antigen analysis and international travel, has developed into a seven-figure turnover business, now delivering a fully-managed service on an international basis for occupational health, corporate health and wellbeing.

It currently has 15 employees and an additional 25 expert associates in legal, HR, clinical governance, accreditation and nursing.

Agilis Health chief executive Mike Eriksen said: “Taking on the management of the two clinics in Aberdeen and Teesside gives us a UK footprint as an occupational health and corporate health and wellbeing provider.

“We have enjoyed a hugely successful first two years in business and our cross-border health and wellbeing service now offers a totally fresh approach for the corporate market to ensure that all personnel are fully compliant in terms of local, national and international health and safety.

“Operating from RelyOn Nutec’s UK centres allows companies and individuals to secure health screening and safety training in one place.”

Lee Fenton, commercial director at RelyOn Nutec, added: “We are currently expanding our renewables offering and continuing to focus on our digital journey as our customers move through energy transition.

“The agreement with Agilis allows us to streamline our operations more efficiently and focus our staff where we need them the most, delivering market leading workforce management solutions and advanced learning platforms.

“Historically, our customers have been primarily oil and gas focused, but as we move into new sectors, they now require greater flexibility in terms of both location and the services on offer - this partnership will ensure that they continue to receive the same high standard of occupational health support, while having access to additional corporate wellbeing services across the whole of the UK.”

In addition to a traditional occupational health service, Agilis will deliver corporate health and wellbeing on a managed service basis, including travel health, drug and alcohol consultancy and screening, health surveillance, management referrals and Covid screening, along with guidance for mental health and stress-related absence.

The business has plans to develop this service across an international market, as well as the UK, with a focus on energy and maritime locations, including Mexico, Brazil, the Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States, where Agilis already has a presences in Houston.
