U.S. President Donald Trump missed out on the Nobel Peace Prize he long coveted, but became the inaugural winner of the new FIFA Peace Prize at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

FIFA, the global governing body for soccer, said that the award will “recognize exceptional actions for peace,” but offered few other details on how Trump or the future honorees are determined.
