The FIFA World Cup is the biggest event for the biggest sport in the world—so no pressure to get it right. Unfortunately, the governing body’s official logo release for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday wasn't received as planned and fans will have plenty to joke about for the next three years.
The official FIFA World Cup Twitter account unveiled the logo for the ’26 tournament—which will take place across the United States, Canada and Mexico—and it got absolutely roasted by online users.
The logo is just a black background with “26” vertically portrayed in white with the trophy sitting plainly atop the entire image. Not exactly the most creative or exciting logo for the world’s premiere sporting event.

Needless to say, the internet got creative with the memes and didn’t hold back. The World Cup is scheduled to start June 2026 so until then, it appears FIFA is married to this interesting design choice.
